SHARI POLUR is the founder of Polur Elder Law, PLLC a holistic law firm in Louisville, Kentucky. She concentrates her practice exclusively in the areas of elder law and special needs law.
She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where she was a Paul Liacos Scholar and Public Interest Project fellow.
Ms. Polur is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and has also been admitted to practice by the highest courts in Kentucky, Massachusetts, Florida and Washington, D.C.. She is on the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is active in the Kentucky Bar Association's Elder Law Section, both on the executive committee and as its past Chair.
Ms. Polur has served as Chair for the University of Kentucky's Annual Elder Law Conference, and she was appointed by former Governor Steve Beshear and current Governor Andy Beshear to the Statewide Independent Living Council, serving as its Vice-Chair. She was appointed by Governor Matt Bevin to serve on the Kentucky Assistive Technology Loan Corporation's Board of Directors.
In addition, Ms. Polur is also a member of the Kentucky Guardianship Association and on the Board of Trustees of Louisville’s JCL.
SHARI POLUR is passionate about helping her clients tailor a unique plan that encompasses their community, social, and familial considerations, as well as medical and financial concerns. She has developed a specialty pursuing those who financially exploit vulnerable adults. Ms. Polur helped change the law in Kentucky to enable a client under guardianship to seek a divorce from their abusive and exploitative spouse.
Ms. Polur presents to companies, community groups, and national groups, and has been appointed to serve by three different governors on statewide Boards or Commissions that support persons with disabilities.
